Taking the Pink Pledge This October: Strides for Strength Recap and What Is Next
Taking the Pink Pledge This October: Two More Ways to Support the Norma Pfriem Breast Center
Strides for Strength took place at Seaside Park in Bridgeport on Sunday, October 4, and I was proud to be one of the walkers. I serve as a member of the Norma Pfriem Breast Center Community Council, and walking for this cause alongside our community meant a great deal to me. Thank you to everyone who registered, walked, ran, sponsored, or simply cheered from the sidelines.
Pink Pledge month is not over, though. There are still two wonderful ways to take part close to home before October ends.
On Thursday, October 22, The Girls (and the Boys) comes to the Horseshoe Cafe in Southport at 6:00 pm, with pink drinks, a raffle, and a live band. It is exactly the kind of evening that makes giving back feel like a night out with friends.
On Tuesday, October 27, Boost & Brews returns to Fairfield at 7:30 pm. The evening begins with a 45-minute FIT4MOM Body Boost workout, followed by a beer, raffle prizes, and time to connect with the community. Tickets are $35, and proceeds support Pink Pledge.
If an evening out is not in the cards, you can still give back simply by shopping and dining locally. Through the Pink Pledge Shop, Dine and Sweat program, local favorites including Ryebird, BLUE Berries, Harry's Wine & Liquor, Wine N Cheese Day Spa, Hansen's Flower Shop, and the Beehive are supporting the cause in their own ways this month. See the full list of participating businesses.
Every dollar raised through Pink Pledge benefits the Norma Pfriem Breast Center, part of Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Health, with locations in Bridgeport, Fairfield, and Trumbull. Its mission is simple and powerful: excellent, compassionate care for every woman, regardless of her ability to pay. Pink Pledge reports that this year the Center provided comprehensive services to more than 50,000 women and financial assistance to more than 1,500 uninsured women (as of September 2026). That is care happening right here in our own community.
Whether you sweat, sip, or simply shop, there is a place for you this month. You can also give directly through Pink Pledge.
